PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has said there is nothing wrong if he proceeds on annual vacation.
In a terse response to media enquiry on his trip at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, just before he flew out of the country, he recalled that he had equally gone on vacation about the same time last year.
He queried: “What’s wrong with going on vacation? Didn’t I go last year at the same time?”
Meanwhile,
the Presidency has also assured that there is nothing to worry about over President Buhari’s health following his departure for vacation and medical checkups.
According to his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, who spoke with reporters at airport, the president only needs the goodwill and prayers of Nigerians.
Asked whether there is anything to worry about concerning the president’s health, he said: “Nothing, absolutely nothing. We need to show good will towards our leaders particularly President Muhammadu Buhari who is working to give Nigeria a new footing, a new orientation. Nothing absolutely to worry about but a lot of good will, a lot of prayers are necessary at all times.”
He explained that President Buhari is only going to rest having worked hard to reposition the country.
The presidential aide stated: “The president is going to rest. You know that God did work of creation for six days and on the seventh day he rested.
“So if God needed to rest how much more human being. So the president is just going to rest and the statement we have released is straight forward. He will go on this leave and during the leave he will do routine medical checkups.”
Also speaking, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General Gabriel Olonishakin, who was part of that airport farewell party for the president, revealed that service chiefs briefed the president on security issues before his departure.
